About Me

Hey there. I am so glad that you’re here. I love working with people ready for change. I love health, business, big dreams, support systems, and transformation. Facilitating change lights me up.

It’s been quite a journey leading me to Rootvik Health and Wellness and this work I now do.

From early childhood I struggled with migraines and emotional eating. I fought my body at every turn, alternately giving in to comforts and then trying to whip my body into an unrealistic “ideal.” I punished myself for not being thinner, faster, stronger, prettier… different than whatever I actually was in that moment.

I was so used to hurting that I thought it was normal. It wasn’t until 2011 – when I finally made some big changes – that I found out how good I could really feel on a daily basis. With the help of some functional medicine, holistic health care, and a lot of personal education and training, I found ways of eating and moving and relating to my world that allowed my body to work the way it was meant to. Migraines stopped – for the first time in my life. Joint pain went away. The gas and bloating that I thought was normal went away. Sinus infections ceased. And I felt lighter than ever. Is this what freedom felt like?

I want to help you feel good in your body, too.

I was raised vegetarian, but I’m not card carrying. I’m not strictly Paleo. I don’t fit neatly into any dietary theory box. I do have some food allergies, so I have been gluten-free since 2010, but I don’t force that on anyone. Moderation is essential. People need to find out what works best for them. I have learned to listen to my body. And that’s what I want for you.

After a liberal arts education, living in the UK for years, studying at Oxford and the University of York, and then finding myself working again in the health care industry where I also earned a Masters in Health Administration, I ultimately chose to become a certified holistic health coach. My nutrition training was through Integrative Nutrition in New York, and I’m certified through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. This isn’t a career built of necessity or based on health product sales. (I am unaffiliated with any specific product or brand.)

I left a career in health care administration to pursue health coaching full time. Holistic health coaching is the work that inspires and energizes me. I care about being on the front lines of disease prevention and helping people like you daily to unlock your own potential.

In my practice, I’ve had the honor of working with amazing and inspiring individuals and groups, using food as medicine, and coaching beautiful people to world-changing health.

When we aren’t properly nourished we aren’t able to live up to our potential — and we feel it.

I have worked with busy executives and busy moms, brides-to-be and entrepreneurs, doctors and lawyers and students and artists. The common thread is this: People want to feel good! When we don’t feel good, nothing works quite right. When we aren’t properly nourished we aren’t able to live up to our potential — and we feel it. Sometimes this leads us to feel guilty and we’re then often tempted to punish ourselves in strange (and also very common) ways.

Nourishment is about more than just the food we eat, which is why as a coach I help clients develop lifestyle plans. The food we eat matters. So does everything else. Are we being nourished in other areas of life? What about our careers? Are our bodies feeling nourished by the physical activities we’re choosing? Do our relationships offer us what we want and need? What small changes can we make right now? Think how good we could feel a few short months from now if we changed even one small thing today… because we all know there’s potential.

What if you and your body were total allies?

What if you and your body were total allies? What if you made simple changes along the way, developing a lifestyle that allowed real flexibility, promoted great pleasure, and left you feeling present, lighter, and more energized than ever?

If this sounds like the sweet life to you (and it sure does to me!), a holistic health coach may be exactly what you’re looking for.

I’d love to hear your story.
