Steve Brooks at Trust Cellars sorts and destems Syrah grapes. Here is a cluster just before it goes into the destemmer, before it’s fall into the tunnel of attack-by-rubber-paddles-on-wands, breaking the cluster down into separate parts, berry by berry then dropping into a bin, awaiting the crush that leads to freedom… sweet fermented freedom.

Steve Brooks is a gem. Really, he is. Last Saturday I had the pleasure of barrel tasting the Trust Cellars wine club cabernet sauvignon and I’m not sure my senses have recovered yet.
