Pepper Bridge 2002 Cab delight
I am so spoiled. This evening a good friend poured me a glass of the 2002 Pepper Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon. Fantastic! The bottle had been open for a few hours, and I have no complaints about that.
As I went in for the “sniffy sniff”… wow! Now that’s a big red. Well, I had just come inside from the late chill. But this wine was warm. Not hot in a rubbing alcohol to burn your nose hairs, but a lovely warmth, a glow. Rich color. Layers of taste: dark stone-fruit, licorice, a bit of pine… no, cedar, and the… hey, did I taste river rock? Long, luxurious finish–like the bath I’m going to take.
I’m still a bit emotional about the mouth and finish, so perhaps I’ll have to reflect on it later if I decide anything more needs to be said. But I’m pretty sure I can leave it at this:
Find yourself some!

Amy, your experience reminds me of enjoying this same wine last spring, when we paired it with a dinner featuring grilled beef tenderloin. I was completely swept away with this Walla Walla Valley cab. In fact, it was a wine that has put me on a path of seeking out and enjoying other expressions of cabernet sauvignon fruit from the Pepper Bridge and Seven Hills vineyards. If you know of others to try, please share your recommendations.
